Overseas Coupon Project
The Overseas Coupon Program assists US military families overseas
to make ends meet. They are able to use the coupons to reduce food
costs at their base store. Coupons are clipped, sorted, counted,
and sent directly to US military bases around the world. We appreciate
their hard work and dedication that help to make the world a safer
place.
In 2005 Region 5 ran two very successful OCP contests resulting in thousands of dollars being collected for military bases. If you are intrested the OCP please contact the R5 Lea Morgan at communityaffairs@region5.org.

2007 R5 OCP GOAL: $280,000 2007 R5 OCP TOTAL: $300,076.68
In March 2007, I proposed that Region 05 set an Overseas Coupon Program goal of $280,000. As you can see, we met that goal and blew right past it to the $300,000 mark. Congratulations! That is an awesome achievement!
Now, it is a new year, and we have a new beginning to make with our coupon program. We have a chance to start over, to do better with the program, and to make our new program even stronger. January 2008 is a new beginning to do more for our military families based far from home and to achieve a higher goal! How about trying to donate $325,000 to the OCP as a region in 2008!
If your chapter has been talking about getting your coupon program going, this is a great time to put it into motion. Just collect the coupons, cut them out, and find someone willing to sort, count, and get the coupons ready for shipment! Some incentives that have worked for other chapters is publishing in the newsletter the monthly contributions of the crew, recognizing each crewmember who had contributed coupons at the monthly chapter meeting, awarding a rank point for every $200 of coupons, or awarding a charity service ribbon for $1,000 in coupon donations. I have found that people like to potluck and get together to cut out the coupons…the social atmosphere makes it fun.
The biggest incentive to getting your chapter motivated is giving them a big challenge! For some reason, people respond well to a definite goal of raising a specific amount in coupons! We Trekkers just love a challenge!
Please include the name of the overseas military base, the face value of the coupon shipment, and the date of mailing the shipment under Activities in your MSR and also send that information to Keith Marshal so he can keep the regional webpage OCP tally up to date. Please do this in addition to reporting your shipment information to the official OCP website.
So the new year is a chance for a new beginning. Make getting your coupon project off the ground and into orbit your new beginning.
